Summer Splash: Arthroscopy & Sports Medicine Course

This one-day arthroscopy and sports medicine course will be held on August 24, 2019 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Gemini Medical Educational Facility. Participants will learn about ankle arthroscopy and sports medicine applications to their practice. Topics from basic arthroscopy to more advanced ankle arthroscopy techniques will be covered. Participants will learn about the indications for ankle arthroscopy, the anatomy involved, ankle portal placement, and the usage of ankle arthroscopy in treating loose bodies, osteophytes, fracture and cartilage damage. Additionally, participants will gain an understanding commonly encountered sports injuries including jones fractures, medial and lateral ankle ligament injuries, Lisfranc injuries, Achilles disorders, and tendinopathies. These educational topics will be discussed in didactic learning sessions and supplemented by faculty supervised lab time. Thus, giving the participant time to apply the topics learned in the didactic sessions to the lab experience. This course will prove to be beneficial for anyone planning on performing arthroscopy and treating sports injuries in their foot and ankle practices.
